Thanks, when you get the chance, please do as I am not too hot on this stuff and would like to know where abouts it says that as I am intrigued
One day, I may actually get around to reading it myself

in the next 20 years, it is expected to have your mind scanned and copied in a DVD! so you can expect to live for ever, the cost being just the storage media!
I would like to die in peace!

Nothing.. there is no such thing as immortality here on earth.
maybe the word was created for one reason.. it was the
eternal life after life here on earth.

I would hate to live forever, you'd be emotionally exhausted after a few hundred years after seeing and knowing so much.
Death is a time to relax and rest and I sure as hell can't wait

I think $1000 is reasonable price for that.

Immortal? Is that protection against accidents as well, cos being run over by a truck is pretty final
The average life expectancy 200 odd years ago was 30 or 40 years old. Today it is between 70 - 90 years old, that is double in just a couple of centuries. In the next 50 years you could see life expectancy double or even triple again. That means 140 to 270 ish.
I could live with that if with it came good health.

megamoose,
Of course no one will ever live forever. But even if it were possible, I think that it would rob a person of their place in heaven. Which is the only true place of IMMORTALITY, I feel. That's why I'd charge them one trillion dollars for me to give up my spot.
Because immortality even would still be a rip off if Armageddon was to ever come about, and the entire world and universe was to be destroyed. Then, tell me would I still be immortal (alive)? My money would even become nonexistent.
So I would need a trillion to do so much good with (quickly as possible), to re-earn my spot -so maybe the one Lord perhaps would forgive me and not caste me out because of my slick deal with the devil.
But still an interesting topic.

I wouldn't mind being immortal - but only up until the Heat Death of the Universe:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_death
Imagine the tedium if everything has died except you!
I'd put a dollar in a bank account and pay them whatever interest it has accumulated after my first million years.

I like the concept but having to re-start life with 'close friends' every 80-100 years would be TERRIBLE. You of course would be with your family as long as they kept having kids/etc, but that could stop and/or something happens and you don't get along. Then again if I could be immortal others could too and I think that'd be fine because life would be totally different than it is now.
As it is now the average person doesn't have enough time to go to school, get a good job, and make enough money to travel the world and buy that 'sports car' they want. I'm not saying people can't be happy but a lot is still not obtainable by the average person.
