How do you think the world will end? My logical side says it will end by comet, but my paranoid subconscience suggests that the world will end after a large number of conicidences occur that seem to be driven by some unknown forces. It seems likely that everything is set up, think about it. It's possible to perdict future events by looking to the stars (the maya calander is based upon this and it is also believed that Nostradamus himself used the heavens to perdict the future), several million sources from various sources are telling us that the world will end on December 21st 2012. You may think that the perdictions of what some may call prophets and oracles to be cryptic and false, but that's what everybody thinks before the events acctually happen. For example before the king of france died Nostradamus perdicted his death accurately and in detail, though it seemed cryptic to the citizens of france after the king died he became known for his perdicting abilities. Many of these people claim that the world will end soon, and I believe them. The signs are all around us, global warming, possibility of a nuclear war, and desieses that seem impossible to cure. Leaders are also becoming more elusive and decietful. The signs are everywhere. But, if this all true what then is our purpose? Is this all some cruel play orchastrated by unseen dieties? Do we even have a purpose? Are we simply just here? I think there will be something in store for us at the end, for good or for evil I do not know.

I think the world will end by rap pollution. People will be jumping out of tall buildings and etc, near the end. Sure sign right there.

Disease most likely, people take far too many anti viral drugs etc. It's likely that eventually the human body will not be able to fight disease at all.

Ok I'll admit, I do like some rap tunes, but they are an exception to the rule, which I think is that there seems to be too many amateurs, I mean.. I know how dificult it is and all that but, still, it's not easy to be unique, you know?

In the Bible, I don't know if the earth is predicted to end while man exisits on it, that's never been really clear to me. I don't believe so though. G10 might know.

We'll do ourselves in. We don't need any help from cosmic forces. Everyone seems to agree that oil will run out someday. The only disagreement is exactly when. That single event will bowl over our economy and lifestyles unless some technological miracle comes along (and they have in the past; look up the story of Norman Borlaug). We're also depleting our fresh water supply in irresponsible ways. It makes up only 3% of the entire earth's water supply, and some are using it to make the southwest into one big California. That can't last.

None of this means that the human race will die out completely, of course. But it does suggest a significant reduction in the earth's population. Too many people and not enough resources to support them all could bring starvation and war on a mass scale. Without a viable replacement for cheap petroleum energy those remain very likely possibilities.

There are alternatives, problem is the money grabbing beaurocrats and high manufacture costs put people off. Hydrogen driven cars are a great example, they are pretty quick and they use natural substances to work and dont produce any significant emmisions.

Solar energy, wind energy, geothermal, all natural but not in use, the oil companies produce enough of a supply that people dont need to switch.

I personally would like to build my own house, buy some land and be completly self sustainable, not from a pollution point of view but from a money point of view.

Nostradamus clearly stated, in plain French that his prophecies would extend to the year 3797. It is not clear whether this (or is not) the end or the world E.Leoni states: '.... this will be the year when the roll is called up yonder.'

btw, I love this end of the world stuff, must be great for major banks watching people draw out big loans as they think they won't owe it back

It was probably a scam made up by the major nanks in the first place

According to that book, the earth isn't going to end but the wickedness on it is going to be brought to an end and in some pretty bad ways. If the world ended, according to the bible, it kind of defeats the object of him saying "fill the earth and subdue it" if later on he thinks, "to hell with that lot" and vapourises the crap out of it

No, in all seriousness (or as much seriousness this topic deserves in my eyes ), the whole 2012 thing is a bit confusing. It is interpreted as the "World'll end", but in reality it's more of a "End of the world as we know it."

My mate has a theory this is interpreted as some big Christian will marry some big Muslim (his theory would be at the Olympics - and the Christian will be somebody like Prince William), thereby joining the two warring religions. He then says that - as humans - we will find something else to fight over.

Personally, I'm going for overpopulation leads to disease will wipe out much of the world, but not all. Comet'll finish us off.

the world will end because the citizens will gradually be dumbed down by those in power until they can control every aspect of our lives. that's close enough to the end of the world for me. we're all living a lie.

End of the world or end of humankind?

If it is us you are talking about, well we have a tenuous hold on this planet as it is, it wouldn't take much to kick us back to the stone age or even wipe us out like the dinosaurs. In fact there have been at least two instances in Earth's history where 90% or more of the life on this planet has been wiped out. There really are too many ways to count.

If it is the planet you are referring to, then don't worry. Since the Earth was formed there has only been one major catastrophe that threatened the planet and it survived that also. It was the collision of a large planet sized object with the Earth, the impact created the moon, so the theory goes. Of course it will come to an end eventually, in about 5 billion years when the sun goes supernova on us.

But I'm cool with that, its an incentive to leave home, as I see it!
