how many posts are too many?
I notice in alot of forums that some people post 5 or 6 times on each page of a thread with a diverse topic with many answers such as "what are you thinking right now". these people have 20000 plus posts and I only have 250 or so and I want to go crazy posting my opinion all over the place and keep it all relative but I feel like I am going to get kicked off the forum for spamming so my question to you all is
How much is too much what is proper forum etiqute? (<probly spelt wrong)

quality posting counts... irrelevant posts are off no use... and they add nothing to your rep... its the green spots which makes a difference...
i really dont go for post numbers.......

so I am not the only one thinking about this. I am part of a music forum and there is one member there that posts hundreds of irelevant posts and has been doing it for months and still has not been banned, I guess some forums just accept it?

With some forums it's considered to be a sign of weakness on that forum - they think it's good because there's a lot of natter but it's the same guy over and over again, actually discouraging members.
Of course, what makes it worse is that some forums have revenue sharing schemes which benefit repeat posters on a thread.

It's a tough call dude as all forums are moderated in their own way so I guess what works on one won't be accepted on another.
Take this place for example, most of the moderators are just mindless monkeys and the chance of you getting a proper answer out of them is pretty much zero so just count yourself lucky that it was me that replied and not one of those other neanderthals

Speaking for myself, I know that I go overboard and clog the information line at times. I'm actually starting to think that this may be my ultimate purpose in life, to clog V7N's information lines. I am almost positive that this is why I was born. It's becoming clearer by the year.

Well now, that depends on if your posts irritate us or not.

I think post counts shouldn't even be visible. Never understood that.

I think that visible post count simply strokes the members. Harmless really. Much can be made of it and that got old for me a long time ago. Now I just post like there's no post count, and no tomorrow.

I think it does more harm than good and I'm glad to see vB and phpBB recognizing that with their fairly new feature of what forums add to postcounts and what ones don't

This seems a good idea to make these options available.
In what ways do you think it does more harm than good?
