Family Names and the Meanings
Family Names and Their Meanings
For instance
Jeffrey – God’s Peace ( http://www.behindthename.com/name/geoffrey)
Douglas – Dark Stream ( http://www.behindthename.com/name/douglas)
I thought that actually worked for me; ‘God’s Peace in a Dark Stream’
I am a nice human with wicked attributes.
I am often asked what jdspc stands for and at first glance it does look like jd’s pc
Fine, but I started a business sometime back call Dark Stream Productions(DSP) with my brothers…But we are all Jeff, Jason and James...
James is an 'overthrower'
Jason is a 'Healer'
so 'j' works....
'c' just is...
btw- my dad really dug the scot thing
What are yours?
What does your name mean?

That's what my family name means.
What my individual name means according to the link in the op is: English form of the Late Latin Jacomus which was derived from Ιακωβος (Iakobos)

Nope. I'll give you a huge hint. It's English. Please do not post it if you guess it.

My first name means "youthful", my last name is something like "one who is from Kent" (as in England). I've also seen "Kent" as meaning "white" or "edge", but most commonly the place is the definition I've seen.

Lawrence (Larry):
Quote:
|
From the Roman cognomen Laurentius, which meant "of Laurentum". Laurentum was a city in ancient Italy, its name probably deriving from Latin laurus "laurel". Saint Laurence was a 3rd-century deacon and martyr from Rome. According to tradition he was roasted alive on a gridiron because, when ordered to hand over the church's treasures, he presented the sick and poor.

What are you guys talking about your family name means nothing? There isn't a feature to look up family name, is there? Maybe I missed something, very possible. I stated my family name meaning from prior knowledge.

Using that tool or not, it still means nothing. I don't post my full family name on the net, so you'll just have to take my word for it.
