Web hosting companies write fake reviews?

Is it ethical for web hosting companies to write fake third party reviews about themselves?

Occasionally it is more complicated than that. The reviewers have vested interests in giving their hosts a good review, which is just as bad.

Do your research thoroughly is all I can advise. Cheap ain't necessarily so, then again expensive don't mean good or reliable. Personal recommendations are worth trying, but at the end of the day you have to take a risk and plump for one. Try them out on a temporary basis before committing yourself to a long term contract.

Do your research thoroughly is all I can advise. Did I say that before? Must be important then

Is it ethical? Heck no. But people do it all the time unfortunately.

I tend to agree with everything John says. In fact, I'd go so far as to say John is a fine specimen of humanity. A prince of a fellow. A hard working man, and honest man, and one deserving of our unfettered praise, gratitude, trust and any extra money you happen to have lying around.

I am sad that this is even a question.

it's not ethical but many companies do it, and its really disapointing, i prefere to see no reviews at all rather than reading a fake review, however i can smell a fake review and it's definitely a turn off for me.
