Why don't we talk to them? Hmm? Well SETI is more about finding them, but I guess you have to located them before you can talk to them. Although on a number of space probes launched into space, Voyagers I and II having recently exited out solar system, there have been messages attached to be found by who knows who. You could say, at a stretch, this is an attempt at talking to them.
Also see, Rankenstein's post about radio waves and the distance they have travelled so far.

Modern civilization is very young when you compare this to the development of humans. Space is so big. If there are aliens, and they had the means to reach us, they would need to be incredibly lucky to arrive in a time when humans have the capacity to understand whats actually going on
Imagine if early man was visited by aliens. With no written or spoken language, there would be no documentation of the interaction. Maybe aliens injected the earth with life. Even if intelligent life existed and we are able to prove it, how could we communicate if the planet is located 1000 light years away?
So I guess the answer is TECHNOLOGY. We don't have the means to communicate or travel these vast distances to entertain the idea of life out there somewhere.
Or maybe the aliens are just angry and think our planet is lame. That's the most likely scenario.

Further to the above post ...
Voyager 1 and 2 carry a kind of time capsule, intended to communicate a story of our world to extraterrestrials, and include "Johnny B. Goode," by Chuck Berry, "Melancholy Blues," performed by Louis Armstrong and his Hot Seven and "Dark Was the Night," written and performed by Blind Willie Johnson.

The article is actually about something Rank was talking about :
ET and other aliens will be able to tune into a special broadcast of The Beatles' song "Across the Universe" next week when it is sent by Nasa across the universe.
As if to underline how The Beatles have truly universal appeal, Nasa will beam the song towards the North Star, 431 light years from Earth at midnight GMT on Monday.

NASA is transmitting the Beatles song "Across the Universe" on Monday to deep space, in hopes that the aliens will hear it.

Ugliness is relative, that means it runs in the family. Someone may be beautiful on the outside but ugly as hell on the inside.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I just hope the aliens have got eyes.

Why do people think there is life outside of earth? I bet that aliens were alive 1 trillion years ago and since became extinct. Maybe they came to Earth and killed the dinosaurs because they had no one to talk to. Or maybe they do not exist yet.

Why? By your own words, they could have lived in the past and they could live in the future, so why can't they be alive now? And if they are, why are they not talking to us?

Because if they talked to us, they would not want to eat us and they would feel bad about making bicycle seats of our skin, etc. They are a very frugal organism.
