Why don't aliens want to talk to us?

I believe that aliens know we exist, know where we are and have visited us in the distant past. A number of fallen civilisations have reference to visitors from the sky. If this belief is true, then why have they not made contact now when we are at the height of a new civilisation. Surely we are more interesting now then we were before?

Was it the flares in the seventies that scared them away? If you think aliens exist, why do you think they have not made contact again?

Maybe because it is a waste of time...our communication system is based on noises and movements, primarily physical devices. As they might be interconnected energy particles...telepathy based communication systems...

We as a race are just not yet civilized enough. At the first widespread appearance of extraterrestrials? I'd imagine mass panic and religious war would be two of the first things to happen.

I totally disagree with you with regards to your statement "height of a new civilisation". We are far, far, far from anything like that. Just look around at the state of the world. We're poisonous to the planet, we war, we have no universal bonds with the vast majority of cultures around the globe. I think the only time all cultures would stand shoulder to shoulder would be when this planet is actually threatened.

Extra terrestrial life is one of those things that people believe in without any evidence. We fleshy neuron-headed bipeds believe in countless things we can't see. Some people believe in ETs with the fervency that others believe in God (and for similar reasons fundamentally, but I don't want to get into that here). It seems ridiculous to many that the great big universe out there wouldn't contain more life than us pathetic creatures. But so far we've been met with icy silence from that big hole. I'm awaiting more evidence on the whole issue. At this time I don't see any compelling reasons to take either side on this one. We'll know they're out there when we find them, if we find them.

In the meantime we can all enjoy "Chariots of the Gods." One of the best hoaxes, or gross misunderstandings, ever written. But we may have been visited by someone a long time ago, but I wouldn't use that book as evidence.

Because we're just too damned basic for them.

Can't see how we could be MORE interesting as if they are a lot more advanced than us, then as we adnaced, so did they so we are still a basic race with basic technology and they probably see us a some sort of meccano set...

Yeah, sorry about that. I kind of agree with you, perhaps I should have added, in terms of technology. We may have progressed in some ways but in so many others we are still the same.

they are so far ahead that they maybe do not even recognize us as an intelligent life form - they do not bother to communicate with us!

They just want to observe us? I'm thinking that Aliens put us in this lone planet to see how long will we take before we reached a certain technology of them.
