When I saw that Herbie was up against Kanye West and Amy Winehouse for Best Album, I just knew that Kayne was gonna win it. Or even the drunkard...But never jazz.
When I heard the words Herbie Hancock, I was very very happy.
Not for Herbie, he's got his...check out his
discography sometime.
No, Jazz won!
Via Joni Mitchell - How sweet could that be!
I never watch this Grammy fiasco because it is only a 3 hour marketing tour...insulting and gawd what a waste of time...I tuned in and this guy Kanye was doin some kind of garbage that it actually had me glued to the tv while I was having dinner, only to see if he was goin to do something to increase the level of crap he was layin down...and lo and behold HE DID!
So when Herbie won, we all won...
I seriously doubt it but this may be a turn needed to steer our ugly societal opinions toward real art and music and away from the narcissistic vagrancy slathered all over our airwaves and downloads. And hopefully youth will pick up this, but I said, I doubt it.
But if we stay the course and get mainstream shows and/or advertising to promote fine art as cool and acceptable, we may have a chance for our future...not only for music but for our existence.
Art will save us...
