Man or Mouse?
Calling all V7N members!
I've made this poll to see how people feel about this saying. You've probably heard this before, but I wonder how people here really feel about this one. Here it is: "A man is measured by his ability to keep his word(s)."
How do you feel about this? Men and women, I think it won't matter who shares in this poll. So, what say you? Do you feel you are a man/woman of your word(s)?

I feel that this is a generalization, and cannot agree with the statement as such.

In other words, I think that a person is much more than their word/s.

Even if we want to be a man of our words... certain situations won't allow us...

I think its about the trying. If you have given it your best effort then you have to just accept what happens.
It is perhaps better not to promise what you may not be able to deliver. Its about managing expectations. Don't promise the moon if you can't get your pants down.

This has been one of the hardest things I have had to learn. I'm still learning.

Agree!
Promises are like a pie-crust, made to be broken. so better not to promise anything if you can't keep your words..

Yeah, you are right StrongInTheArm in saying that do not promise the moon if you can't get it 'coz honoring your words, there's always a responsibility that lies on it. Once you gave your words there's no turning back. So, think first before you gave your word and meant what you say.

What do you mean by "more than their word/s"? Do you mean that the value of a person's life is more pecious than what they speak? Or, possibly that their actions are what truely measure their worth? I mean, can you be more specific?

More than their words, more than their thoughts, indeed, more than all their thoughts and words combined. This is what I believe.

Yes, absolutely.

We give far too much credit to mechanics. Naturally.
We are just the mechanics, IMO.

It sometimes seems odd to me to know who I am, but I think I do. I think I always have. I don't know why. I have always known me. Even before I was old enough to know better, I knew who I was.
I think I knew who I was from the beginning.

Yes, who I am seemingly resides in my thoughts, words and deeds, but I believe that none of these things actually make me who I really am. I think that who I really am, even at this stage of life, is exactly who I was when I was born, and I find it rather interesting how I've chosen to deal with them, ie who I actually am. Of course, that person that is who you actually are is lost in the shuffle rather quickly, almost immediately I'd say. I believe that we are all born good. All of us except possibly the Antichrist, if it's already been born that is.
ooooo spooky demons..
how could good and evil possibly be actual entities, absurd.
er..
well I'm pretty sure anyway.
Not.
