What better news story on a Friday afternoon than a story about bodily functions

Frédéric Saldmann says they should give free rein to farting, burping and sweating to reduce the risk of cancer, reports the Daily Telegraph.

The French, he says, should "dare to fart". Getting rid of the two litres of gas produced each day is a "natural process" and retaining it can be harmful to the intestines.

Similarly, he says his countrymen should feel free to belch at will and certainly after each meal.

This, he says, is the best way to reduce the risk of getting a hiatal hernia, an ailment which affects almost a third of French people.

Why is this news? The Emperor Claudius was advised by his doctor that it was bad for you to hold botty burps in. And there's a lovely old hymn:

Hmm....I recall there was once a poll in here about this topic.

Several years ago, these videos made the rounds. They're of the "Farting Preacher". Someone added "sound effects" to various clips of one of those slime-ball,, rip-off-artist American preachers. Yes, they're crude and juvenile, but if that's your type of humor, you should enjoy these:
