I've tasted a variety of beers over the years. (hey, a rhyme!)
Unfortuntately (or fortunately?) my tastebuds rejected all of them.

You might like Strongbow, DD. It's a hard cider.
Cider used to be the American drink of choice actually until the late 19th century, when German immigrants popularized beer (which could be made from a crop that grew to maturity in one year, rather than the six or seven needed to get an apple orchard going).
NB: Johnny Appleseed made a fortune off cider. His modus operandi was to travel out several years ahead of waves of colonists and seed apple orchards so the trees would be mature enough to bear fruit by the time larger numbers of colonists arrived. The principal product for apples was hard cider of course.
NB 2 for all you Brits: In the US nowadays, 'cider' is generally used for a variety of apple juice; hence we have to add the qualifier 'hard' when talking about the stuff you're used to getting on tap in the pubs.
NB 3: I seem to be digressing. We were talking about beer. Does anyone here make their own? I've been curious about the whole home-brewing thing.
