Do you buckle up?
What are your views on wearing seatbelts?
If you do wear one, do you also force others in your car to buckle up?
If you don't wear one, what are your reasons?
If you wish to get political about it, do you believe there should be laws enforcing seatbelt usage?

99% time I would do that. If I am on a local road for a minute or so drive, I probably would skip that. Otherwise its a must.

I can't really answer the poll as I have not driven in over 20 years.
As a passenger, yes. I always wear seat belts as all the people I get rides with are total maniacs! (I tend to walk a lot!)

Well... the only time I don't is when my car is in the drive-way and I'm just reversing 15 feet to park in the garage. I just figured, if I can't reverse a car without hitting another vehicle or getting hit by another vehicle, I really shouldn't be driving.

I only wear seat belts when I get out of our community. There is a speed limit of 15 KPH so I don't think that seat belts would be that necessary in a very small community. But I do wear seat belt every time I leave that community, I wear it before I exit the gates and I require my passenger in front to wear seatbelts, but not much for the back passengers, except for when they are kids. I can say that i am a safe driver but that is not enough, it is never enough.
I think there shouldn't just be laws in wearing seat belts properly but also in driving, though there are existing laws, they are still not enough to protect everyone from accidents caused by alcohol (DUI), reckless driving, and more... And I think that giving proper advises or lessons in driving is very important for our teenagers nowadays.

Speaking of that, I thought of something really neat but would upset a lot of drinkers - have an alcohol sensing element in the vehicle. Like into the driver's head rest or right above the driver's head. When it senses the alcohol it prevents the car from being started.
Another thing they can do is, for those who get a DUI have to install a breathalizing device into their vehicles. It only works when it is plugged in, which lets the authorities know that it is attached to the vehicle and in use. And the vehicle can only be started after a breathalizer is given and it is clear of any BAC. This could be a program running for 6 months. It will help keep DUIs off the street and teach them to be responsible.

Here in Ontario, if a person is convicted of DUI, (first offense) they lose their license for a period of time. Once they get their license back, there is another year or two they have to have one of those breathalyzer devices installed in their vehicles.
They have to blow into a tube to get their car started.

When they first introduced the seat belt law here I refused to comply...
A $50 fine cured me of that...

I can't get into or drive a car without first putting on my seatbelt. It's pretty much reflex since I've been a kid.

NB: for a car traveling at 15 kph, the force exerted on an average adult (e.g. 72 kg) not wearing a seat belt would be over 210 kg. Perhaps not fatal, but not what I'd want to experience.
For the curious, there's at least one online calculator that allows you to figure out the impact force on the driver in a collision.

I strap myself in. I don't want to eat windshield. Whether or not my passengers want to eat windshield, I leave to them. I rarely have backseat passengers.
