Safe Roads?

The University of Minnesota has compiled data on traffic accidents all over the United States. They have placed this info on a Google Earth Map. When you click on the link below, navigate your way to the State you want to look at. An "icon" will be placed at each accident site that involved a fatality.

The site is a little slow in loading due to the Google Earth part, but once loaded it's pretty fast. It even shows street level views of the area of the accident location.

Heck, even my street isn't safe. A FedEx truck banged into a tree just outside my house here, about 2 in the afternoon. (Although no fatalities were involved, so I guess it wouldn't show up on the map.)

I found it striking that a second FedEx truck showed up almost as fast as the tow truck, to take all the packages from the wrecked vehicle.

Not all roads are safe. In my community where there is this 20 kph sort of limitation for driving, there are still accidents. I could still remember a fatality because of a motorbike and a dog. a motorbike was carrying two passengers and then a dog chased after them, in the humps on the road, the lady passenger fell head first and died..
