Energy Drinks, coffee's and those pills you pop ~

I've recently gotten into these Monster energy drinks. Coffee has not been cutting it lately. I drink crappy coffee though, maybe that's the problem.

Anyways, long hours in front of the computer can lead to boredom, no matter how interesting the task at hand is.

Do you drink energy drinks? What kind? Are you coffee only? How many? Or maybe you pop some pills...

None of the above.

Sometimes I will drink a pepsi for the caffeine but I would never touch an energy drink. Those things can damage your liver pretty badly.

You know what I do when I've had too much computer time? I take a break =P. When I come back to my task I am rested and do less errors .

Also, starting a regular exercise program will increase your energy levels overall. Really.

I stick to coffee, personally.

If I'm REALLY bad, I'll have a cup of coffee when I start work but I try and avoid that where possible cos I always end up slumping at 10ish and feeling like crap...

I don't like energy drinks too much, soooooo much sugar!

Eat an apple seriously, refreshes you!

Oh well, I've been drinking a lot of energy drinks and coffee last week due to three consecutive days of no sleep and party. Yay! I couldn't get my eyes open during office hours.. I'm glad I still managed to do what I needed to do for the sites I handle..

At present the number of studies examining the effects of individual components of energy drinks on humans is relatively small and inconclusive. It is true that some countries in Europe have banned or considered restricting the sale of energy drinks, largely because they are frequently combined with alcohol and appear to exacerbate excessive alcohol consumption by reducing side effects that normally serve to inhibit people's drinking. Taurine is specifically banned in France, and Red Bull has been banned in Norway, Denmark, Uruguay, and France.

There is little to no solid evidence on the therapeutic value of taurine, l-carnatine, or large doses of B-vitamins, nor on the potentially negative effects of consuming large quantities of these. There is some correlation between the consumption of energy drinks and increased/less responsible alcohol use. The only tangible 'boost' anyone can really identify from these products comes from the caffeine. I would hold off on ingesting this random cocktail of amino acids and dietary supplements and watch for better studies, most of which are being conducted outside the U.S.

Make's me want to crack another.. Oh too late, already have.

So far a single one of these far surpasses a couple of cups of coffee for me so that's the ultimate test. I'd rather down 1 drink versus a few cups of coffee.

I used to be a vit junky many years ago so I can attest to supplemental diets that contain vast amounts of A B and C. Go a few days without it and you feel the difference. Mix the gingko and ginseng, over time these effects are noticeable. But only after you've been off them and compare retrospectively.

It's not just about the buzz... otherwise why not just take a few No-Doz pills. I drink about five cups of coffee a day, of which two are caffeinated and the rest not. Good coffee is worth drinking either way. I just like the way it tastes.

Just coffee for me. Though sometimes coffee is no longer working for me, I still don't take energy drinks.

I'm all about the green tea! I used to be a coffee junkie (never really liked the taste of those energy drinks *euwww*).

So to all you coffee/energy drinkers out there... give Green Tea a shot! You will be glad you did (I know I am)!

And you can't add a shot of Sambuca to an energy drink. Well, at least you shouldn't.
