Actually the foreskin makes sex a better experience for men. it has sensory nerves in it. Same as the clitoris in women.

OK well 229 deaths a year. Its still dead babies. They could have lived if they were treated like babies in the UK.

An outdated and unsubstantiated estimate.

The forskin is not the equivalent of the female clitoris. Remove the female clitoris and sexual pleasure is pretty much history. In males, you can remove the forskin without substantially affecting sexually pleasure.

Well its still a minority. approx 80% of the world is intact (official figures range from around 78-82%). Only 20% is curcumcised, mainly confined to traditionally jewish countries, and the majority of males in USA. It's become an American thing. So depending on where this poll is posted, the results will vary. As the official IMR world map (TM) shows that most people here are American, I guess this poll will show more people circumcised than intact. Post this on a UK forum or any European forum, you'll find the results completely different.

Why is it a minority is what you should ask. It's because there is no medical advantages apart from preventing infection if you dont wash. Few Americans circumcise because of infection risks or anything. Its become normal. Its just like giving a baby a name for the majority of American families.

Atom, the chinese used to break little girls feet when they were born. This was to make them look better when they were older, as they would have smaller feet. It was painful to the baby, but made them have smaller feet (it has been officially banned now though). Would you do that to your little girl to make them look better?
Asthetic reasons or no valid reason for cutting off pieces of babies. Maybe when your older and have a choice in the matter, its fine, but not as a baby.

Dumbass, now you're saying that we are bad parents. As a parent, when my child is born you think I'm going to circumcize him just because it's popular? Let me think. Huh. My son. My son who is priceless. My son who I'd kill for. And I'll just do it because it's popular? You jackass. No way in hell. Every parent I know who's had it done read the literature, consulted their doctor, and made a decision after serious thought.

No... probably not....
...but if they were males, I would have them circumsized .... most definitely.
It's actually a rather important gift that you can give your male children. I wouldn't even dream of not having it done for them. Really ... that's just me.

Im not saying your a bad parent. Your probably an excellent parent. Im saying that alot of American families would just say 'yup' to the doctor when he asks if it is to be done. Lets say nobody in america was circumsied. It was confined to a very small minority of Jews. Would you try to get your son circumsised? I don't even think it would come across your mind, if its not the norm. It's becuase it is normal which is why people do it. They hear about it on TV, magazines, friends, whatever. Their dad has been circumcised. Its just a procedure you get when you are born. That's fine if its culture, and more educated people lke you know the pro's and con's of it. But itls like the Chinese foot binding, to people outside the country, it doesnt even cross the parents mind.

No I'm not a parent. But why does America have the higest circumcision rate? Are you saying that parents in UK are bad parents? We arent less educated or anything. Its becuase of tradition and normality in the USA. Not becuase the parents somehow are genetically more intelligent when it comes to circumcision.
