Login/info Page Question

I'm starting a forum using myBB and have a couple of questions. When you first visit my domain, I want a login/registration page where I can put a small bit of info explaining the purpose of my site; I don't want the forum index to be the first thing you see. The login pages of Twitter and Facebook are perfect examples of what I'm imagining. It would also be a plus if I could add a "Store" in the future.

How would I go about doing this? Do I need to integrate myBB with a CMS like Drupal or Joomla? Any insight would be much appreciated.

Have you searched through the plugin database yet?

http://mods.mybb.com/mods

You might want to ask for help on the mybb support forum. Sounds like some custom coding or perhaps there is a mod available.

Iirc there are other forums out there that's running on the idea that you have, though it's most definitely not myBB.

You can certainly do that first idea you have in case a mod isn't available(or you could try building a static html of your own for better flexibility in customization, since linking that main page to the forum would definitely be easier.

Maybe just create a regular home page and have your forum set at a different location such as www.mysite.com/forum] then link from the page to your forum? This is how my site is set up... this also gives you the opportunity to add a blog or more content to your website.
