VB post/thread display for users
Users to display above posts on Vbulletin
Well I have spent a while over the last week or so on and off trying to find how to change the user display in threads on my VB forum so that the users display above the threads like here on V7N rather than down the side.
The left column display is not working for my site as it is leaving too muc blank space and the answer looks to be in having the user details displayed above the posts, but do you think I can find how to reset it.
So could someone please tell me the path to do this?
Please don't post the VB manual links as I have been there and it is not helping and making this thread a definitive answer would much better serve the purpose of this thread as the answer can't presently be found on page 1 of Google
Or can it >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

VB 4 something or other snakeair
Why would I need an addon/mod to do that? Surely there must be a setting somewhere that I just can't seem find and would like to as I want to switch my forum over due to too much white space.

Can you see if this does the trick?
Admin Control Panel > vBulletin Options > vBulletin Options > Style & Language Settings>Use Legacy (Vertical) Postbit Template

Totally awesome snakeair thankey thankey thank you and thank you again. I couldn't find out how to make user names display above posts on vbulletin forums anywhere (didn't know what I was looking for word wise which didn't help) but now that info can easily be found on V7N

You had better luck than me then as I spent a good time looking for it and this last week was not the first time I had done so either. Thanks again
Not only is my forum now clear of absolutely masses of un-needed white space
Here are other benefits I have noticed already
When a post was edited in the other format if it had not been posted very recently (like a few seconds) when edited the post then vanished and the page had to be refreshed to see it again. Not now this solved that which had also baffled me for ages,
My text was displaying all centred in every other posts. Not now this fixed that to. No wonder I couldn't find where it was set to centre the text.
And the final cherry on top of the cake so far.
Every post now matches the new Google colour scheme almost exactly with the black and F5F5F5 (or near there) header BG. so I am one very happy bunny right now just from those little things alone that changing that one setting has accomplished in one click after a change in a radio button exactly where you said it might be!

I am have been looking for an answer to this question for while. I changed the setting to legacy as suggested and it made a huge difference; however, I had to switch back because it was also displaying the member's real name and I didn't like that. How can I make it NOT display the real name? Please be exact as I know very little html or css.

its quite common sense that to align some notonly in html or vb forum even in any language almost, u must look at style sheets attached with that page.
all u need to do,[i know u got the answer],is just look at the source code and find the style sheets attached with that.
anyways, another method may be that u already know a forum which have same layout as u want that is v7n, so u must inspect the source code of this page with chrome.
i also had these kind of problems in the begining when i started my forum, but now i have a big network and i understand all these problems.
