Racing @ v7n
v7n Rally Car Skin: Currently available only on Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X
v7n Racing v1_1 v 1.1.
Be sure to backup your cars folder!
How to Use: Unzip file and overwrite the existing mer_tex_high_05.pssg file.
Dirt 2 via Steam: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\dirt 2\cars\mer\livery_05\textures_high\
Dirt 2 Default: C:\Program Files\Codemasters\dirt 2\cars\mer\livery_05\textures_high\
This is a skin replacement, not a new Livery. For this reason you must load livery "Beard Seats" for vehicle Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X prior to race.
Changelog: - Rims now aluminum with red inlays
- v7n website url (rear bumper) now bolder
- Yokohama Logos moved lower on front fender
- "Side Waves" darkened
- Hood Logo Added
- Rear Trunk Logos Added
- Decals cropped from Grill Areas
- Rear Spoiler paint fixed
- Slight paint overspray removed from guages
v7n Racing 1_0 v1.0.
Be sure to backup your cars folder!
Dirt 2 via Steam: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\dirt 2\cars\mer\livery_05\textures_high\
Dirt 2 Default: C:\Program Files\Codemasters\dirt 2\cars\mer\livery_05\textures_high\
...simply overwrite the existing mer_tex_high_05.pssg file.
There is currently no low texture version so you'll need to load livery "Beard Seats" when selecting Rally Livery ingame.
Enjoy
...
As some of you may know, I'm a bit of a gamer. One of the types of games I enjoy very much is racing, especially when there is as much simulation dropped into it as possible. Lately I've been playing Dirt2 which I can't say is a SIM by any means but for once, the cars to have weight and the handling is much tougher (when difficulty is cranked up) that previous titles.
One of the things I really enjoy about racing is when I can actually drive in my own liveries, particularly liveries I create based off my own websites. After 3 weeks of digging, I finally found out how to get my own websites custom skins ingame. If you are interested you can view this topic here for some screens (Dial Up Warning): http://www.lifesupporters.com/forums...ing-10067.html
...now I'm not here to pimp my own stuff, I'm here to pimp v7n so without further adieu:

Incidentally go easy on me; my Alpha Channels are far from complete as is the vehicle skin. This build is roughly around 70% complete.

Well played. I like the logo on the side of the car.
I am not much of a pc gamer type of racer, but I'll whoop some butt in Mario Kart Wii

But did the car win the race? Is the car well versed in SEO (Speed Engine Optimization) to place well in the rankings?
Don't forget about the Back(road)Links. The more this car has available to it the better it will do. Or so I've heard...
OMG! I need a holiday already. lol

As a matter of fact it did win the race by a comfortable margin.

Yup I can definitely upload them and provide you with a link.
The thing to remember is though that these are still very much a WIP so there will be some minor issues but the major work is pretty much done. I meant to ask for permission to use the v7n Directory, and v7n Advertise Banners so I can put them on the trunk lid just above the rear bumper.

I probably did something wrong but it doesn't show up on the liveries selection screen. I have only unlocked 5 liveries, but even in those that are grayed out it is not showing at least in the preview screen. Maybe it only shows up when you're playing or after you unlocked all?
I can also upload the previews of the locked ones but I can tell it does not show the V7n logo.
Sorry for being such a noob but I never modded DiRT2

Ahhh I just found it!
It's on the Beard Seats option, it only shows on the car but not on the previews, I'll go have some fun with the car and post screenshots later!
Thanks Ken!

lol sorry man. I edited my post likely after you read it to tell you which Livery to load.
I'll look at creating the Livery Preview to make it a bit easier but I'm not sure what I have to do to actually change the Livery Name Load Screen.
Anyway, np, enjoy

Incidentally, I edited the textures_low file, uploaded it and expected to see it in Livery Preview but to no avail. Now I'm completely stumped where to find this preview file so we may be stuck with Beard Seats for a while.
If you hear of anything on where I can find these files, please let me know.

Alright I made 26 screenshots from 2 races, it's a pity the forum only allows me to attach 5 at a time, if somebody wants more let us know and we can make more captures.
Great work Ken!
BTW are you a lot into modding? I'd like an official V7n batsuit for Batman Arkham Asylum, and a cowboy version of Niko Bellic from GTA4

Some more screenshots and a video.
I had to swap the audio because Youtube does not allow me to use the default soundtrack from the game due to copyright reasons. Also sorry about the choppy fps at the beginning, my core2duo can't handle the game maxed out and fraps recording at the same time.
(if you click on it and watch it from the youtube page you can see it in HD @ 720p)

Nice screens and video my friend
Just so you know, the Hot Button is F4 or F5 (I forget which) to remove the play controls when making screenshots and recording video. Unfortunately it still leaves you with the Dirt 2 watermark in the upper right corner which I still don't know how to get rid of? I did see however someone post screens without the watermark so it may be a similar removal process as in Grid (I'll have to check).
lol @ Niko and BAA.
I've never actually modded for a game before because I'm really horrible with 3dsmax. I had intended to break into the modding dept. by creating a debris mod for ArmA2 but just haven't had time to get around to it. These would be easy shapes such as broken chairs, tables, couches, etc., (warzone stuff) that are low poly enough to wrap my head around max while still getting stuff ingame (without bringing it to its knees) and a good introduction into config writing.
...so to make a long story short, I've never modded only skinned existing stuff.
I do like skinning though but finding the time is a bit tough sometimes. Even in this rough state, the v7n Evo Skin took approx. 8 hours because I had to figure out what font was used in v7n's logo, find a globe that I had legal rights to use (cost me $6 USD lol), and then create the faded swishes (which I didn't know how to do until yesterday).
Oh ya and that arrow wrapping around the globe...what a PITA that was to create

Those are pretty nice. Starting to read the first post, I actually thought it was a real race car and I was all, like, wtf... V7N is sponsoring a race team? lol. Great graphics, great engine.

I hope to button this skin up sometime either this week or next so if you have any suggestions of changes or additions to the existing skin, please let me know.
Thanks.
