Bioshock 2 anyone?

So who has pre-purchased or is going to get the game.
I know prepaid for the game since they were giving $5 off.
Can't wait to play it.
I played the first one a few times and really hope this one is going to be good. It'd be hard to beat the first one.
It would be very interesting to actually play as Big Daddy.

I was going to do preorder it but then I saw it has DRM which limits the number of installations you can do per copy so I decided not to buy it.

You can get the game through Steam. No limits there.
BTW I do hate DRM too. Surprised that any company still uses it. I am sure there will be a "fix" for that as soon as it comes out.

Is the steam version DRM free? if so I may get it, but I'm in a dilemma at the moment with so many good games available for pre purchase LOL!

I'm also wondering if I should preorder the new version of Aliens Vs Predator and Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Are you sure You read DRM correctly?
I see on Steam version this:
Quote:
DRM Information: SecuROM offers unlimited activations on up to 5 PCs.
That means you can install it as many times as you like on 5 PCs.

I am going to get BF: Bad company 2 as well. I'll have to wait till it comes out though or at least the end of next month.
I am not sure about AvP though. It does look awesome. I might try the demo if there is one.

I just googled and found that 2K has removed the Bioshock2 activations limit:

Quote:
Upon announcing BioShock 2's DRM earlier this week, 2K was hit with a wave of criticism from players. To nip the nerd-rage in the bud, they've decided to loosen the game's copy protections.

"There will be no SecuROM install limits for either the retail or digital editions of BioShock 2, and SecuROM will be used only to verify the game’s executable and check the date," announced 2K community manager Elizabeth Tobey. "Beyond that, we are only using standard Games for Windows Live non-SSA guidelines, which, per Microsoft, comes with 15 activations (after that, you can reset them with a call to Microsoft.)"

Originally the game was going to have a five-machine limit for activations. Crisis averted, though. No need to give the game any one-star reviews on Amazon - not that you'd ever stoop to such a thing.

I'm ok with SecuROM but an activations-limit is something that usually keeps me from buying a game, it is a pointless measure that only annoys loyal customers and fails to stop pirates, they can just get the game hacked and drm-free without even paying for it

There is a preorder deal on Steam for BF Bad Company 2, if you preorder they give you beta access since next week and some extra stuff that you can use in-game. I will wait to see some footage on youtube when the beta is open before getting it, I hope it's not more of the same.

I'm busy playing Dragon Age actually. Attorney dropped a copy of it for me in the mail. Was surprised as I'm not a "Let's see how much blood we can get the computer to generate!" gamer.

I am glad that they removed the DRM. I stopped buying games for awhile as well when DRM was getting out of hand. I don't understand why they even try to use it anyway. crackers brake those within a week anyway.

I'd pre-order the Bad company, but I am already over my budget this month.

I'am looking at getting bioshock 2, but I just dont know. Y2K made a bad move by even mentioning DRM, much less putting it in and then taking it back out.

It just seems that Y2K is flip flopping on the issue. Who is to say they will not add it back in later on?

I bought bioshock 1 during the christmas steam sales, got it for something like $5. To be honest, I'am not "that" impressed with it.

To each his own I guess. I didn't really like it when they were showing the previews of Bioshock. I couldn't figure out what exactly the game was about and who or what the character was supposed to be.
Thankfully my friend let me play his system for awhile. I actually owned three copies. I lost the first, got second one for $5 from D2D last year and the third one came free with the pre-order of B2.
