Anyone Else Waiting for the New SimCity?

I did not get hooked onto SimCity until SimCity 4 came out with the Rush Hour Expansion.

Loved how this game let you have an entire region of cities and you could connect all of the independant cities via connecting roads, and could share resources.

This was killed in SimCity Socieities and I was rather disappointed, but now apparently this feature is returning with the new SimCity that is scheduled to be released in March 2013.

Anyone else looking forward to the new chapter in the SimCity Franchise?

Much Thanks,

BiologyWebmaster

Big fan of Sim City. Although I'm always cheating, I still play SC4. Definitely looking forward to the new one.

I just read this on Kotaku about their DRM

Quote:
A couple weeks ago, the SimCity gang at Maxis held an AMA at Reddit. That may not have been such a smart idea. They don't like DRM over there, for any reason, and SimCity's gonna require an always-on Internet connection to play it, in any mode. It's no surprise that this comment, a compendium of anti-DRM remarks, was the most upvoted question of the entire AMA. Or that it went completely unaddressed.

I'm not a big fan of the heavy-handed DRM tactics some Publishers use.

I read the article, and I am not a reddit user, so don't know what "DRM" stands for, but I have been going to the main simcity site and it does hint that there will be an internet connection required to play the game.

This does bother me, depending on the game I am playing...came across this when Starcraft II came out, won't even let you play skirmish without being online and this ticks me off.

You cannot even fully install the game without an internet connection, I think this is the way all game publishers will be heading towards in the future as games become more advanced and require more computing power than your PC can offer.

Much Thanks,

BiologyWebmaster

DRM stands for Digital Rights Management.

We used to play this on the computers at school back in the 90s... For some reason everybody would build up a gorgeous, intricate city only to demolish it with natural disasters. Call it the godzilla effect, lol.

I'm excited about the upcoming SIM CITY, except the always online DRM. I still remember how the old SC 4 bring a lot of sweet memories to me.

I want to buy it but the DRM is the reason why i don't. It needs Internet to play, some parts are computed on the servers, so that I can't play when my Internet is down.

When I pay for a game, I want the whole game, every time and everywhere. When the publisher decides to shut down the game servers then I can't play again.

Not with me!

If you go to SimCity.com you can sign up for an account there, they have exclusive content and updates, if you want to be more informed about it, if you already have an Origin account, you can just use that log in information!

Much Thanks,
