Sharing Content On V7N

We do occasionally get the question:
Can i share an article on V7N from my own website?
V7N does not allow self promotion outside the Webmaster Marketplace, that includes starting new threads where the opening post contains a source link (or just a link) to the members own website. So in those forum sections, you are not allowed to post an article from, or a link to your own website in the opening post of a thread.

The reason:
  • If you post a new thread without a source link to where you took the article (your own website) then you're not giving proper credit to the author of the article (and V7N would most likely outrank you for your keywords) - e.g. copy and pasting without proper credit giving.
  • If you are giving proper credit, by adding the required source link or just a link (to the article or any page on your own website) then the opening post will be considered self promotion - e.g. you created the thread to link to your own website.
  • Besides, we do not allow whole articles to be posted on v7n even if credit is given - e.g. v7n is not an article marketing website.

We do however allow members to share a quote of an article from their own website (within reason) with a source link (or just a link) as a reply to a thread however we have some rules about how to do it.
From the Forum Rules and Guidelines:
We do allow our members to link to their own sites (within reason) when it is relevant as part of their response to a thread, such as linking to a relevant article or blog post. Our moderators are able to tell the difference when a member refers to their own site in order to improve the quality of their response and when a member is spamming the community. Moderators have final say on what is and what is not appropriate.
We do allow sharing articles from websites you don't own, however we have have some guidelines about how to share them on V7N.
From the Quality Posting Guidelines:
When starting threads, please do NOT post entire articles, even if credit is given.

If you would like to start a discussion concerning an article you have found (not one you have written) the best way is to first introduce the topic itself then add a quote from the article (along with a link) that basically sums up the discussion. Then ask some specific questions that encourage members to respond with their thoughts.

Don't forget to ask the members to read the referenced article before responding.

Thanks to HTMLBasicTutor for suggesting some edits and the Moderator Team for reviewing the thread.
