Google counts stop words???

I know SE's use stop words, but if I search all the SE's for "for the webmaster" (without quotes), SearchBliss shows #1 in Google (no other SE), if I search for "webmaster", nothing.

Why does Google count "for" and "the" in it's search results?

Google SHOULD count those words. Suppose you had a gallery called the Orange Ranger Gallery, short form OR Gallery. If you search for "or" or "or gallery", then the Orange Ranger Gallery should probably show up a little higher for that compared to "gallery". Similar, an organization called Forces Of Reason (FOR) should rank somewhat higher for "for".

It's also possible that these extremely common words take on new meanings as part of a phrase... and that the ordering of the words changes the meaning (and therefore SERPs should be different).

"Man the Reformer" for example shows up higher for "man the" than "the man".

google should count them, but it would not make it if they are not added into a keyphrase. If there are just simple searches the results can be very different.

As far as I know, when you use quotes like "for the webmaster" or "webmaster" SE's try to find the exact phrase. That's what Google's criteria was before. Very possible that Google start treating phrases with quotes or without quotes the same manner. If so, the chance to find on web the exact phrase like "for the webmaster" is less than the chance to find the phrase with one word "webmaster". That's why, I think the bigger phrase brings you to the higher level in SERP. IMO

Have a great day

the term "webmaster" is too broad, and has very high advertiser competition, unlike when you search term "for the webmaster", it shows your site in top 1 position.

main point, you rank well in this search "for the webmaster" but not in "webmaster" which I think you must work out.

I've never seen this post before, but have noticed the difference when adding the word "the" to queries. One of the good things about posting the same question in different forums (assuming it's legit) is you can get different opinions, from different minds, at different forums.
