Google.ca vs Google.com
One of my domains is ranked on the first page for a specific keyword on google.ca, but on google.com, I can't even find my site listed for the same keyword.
What would cause such a difference in ranking between the two?

I think in google.ca and google.com is different in serp's because of the regional aspects of it. Most sites that have good rankings in google.ca are sites that have domain extensions .ca while in google.com, sites in all regions of the world.

^ i think the simplest explanation that leahmarie wants to point out is
that in google.ca you got less competition for that particular keyword and it only searches pages in .ca so you rank high while
in google.com you got a lot of competition for that particular keyword cause it searches pages of the whole world .au .uk .ph and many many more, is this explanation more clear now?? hehe maybe not *sigh*

Google has different data centers - you could be checking your SERPs on google.ca from Vancouver, from Montreal and from Miami, the results will be different.

They are different in their search result. You have too many competitors in google.com while in google.ca, you have only less competitors. Search results are based from different data centers.

many speak Frenglish in Canada

Yes. I agree with you TeewhY. Aside from that, I think your site is based on Canada that's why your keywords are ranked well in google.ca

So let's say you have a local Canadian company, you would rather target a wide range of irrelevant visitors instead of fewer targeted potential customers??

Hi,
They are diff, when we search a single keywords in .com in india and usa we find diff search results due to specific datacenter. but every data center is inter related to each other by some rules,

i agree with you...less competition makes your site KW get ranked in google.ca
but as much as possible make KW's rank in google.com...it has a lot of subscriber...

Results will vary thats why we have specific extensions for a specific country
Like
google.co.uk
Google.in
Google.ca
etc....
When you are searching for a particular term in Google.ca or in any other country specific extension(e.g Google.in) the competition decreases as Google shows results only from that particular country. Hence the ranking differs in the SERPs of Google.
Thanks

Well, the answer to the matter of differences in SERPs is simple, you are going to compare two different companies Google rankings with each other and their data centers information are not alike.

Here is a tool that you can use to send your query to several different google datacenters and see the results.
