A site with 15 PR4 backlinks might have 150,000 links on pages less than PR4.
The "link:" technique often used for tracking backlinks is an extremely inaccurate way of gauging how a site ranks well.

So how these web sites ranks well with Google.?
Is there anything else that I am missing more than anchor, link, page optmisation ect..
If these sites are having a link from high PR sites why they arent showed by G.?
Does G not show most of the things?
Are we having very simple interface at SERPs?
Any suggestions..

At the moment, I would suggest that the following are the most important ranking factors:
1. links from authority sites
2. links from similar themed sites
3. links
4. on page SEO stuff (title, tags, headings, etc)
In each instance, the anchor text used will help push ranking for searches relating to those terms.
The links never have to be high PR. For example, webhostingtalk.com is an extremely well known forum about webhosting - around 50,000 members - and PR8.
Until recently, a "link:" check would show only a couple of dozen PR4+ backlinks - because most of the referral links to the site were on tens of thousands of very low PR pages, especially on webmastering forums. Since iNet bought the place up, it's been joined up with other iNet sites, and now shows over 21,000 PR4+ backlinks - yet it is still PR8.
The correlation between "link:" results and ranking is, at best, a very rough guide.

How important PR nowadays?
I think SERPs are not built on PR base now.
Low PR sites are at the top of the result pages.
More page sturucture and I agree with Brian links and anchor texts

The visible toolbar PR doesn't seem to be as important as it used to be. You will see many lower PR pages beating higher ones than you used to.
But, I'd still consider PR to be important to Google as a whole.

PR is overrated. It doesn't guarantee rankings.

Here's an old article that explains Google's Ranking algorithm
Hilltop
It's based on the number of relavent "expert pages" that link back to you.

I'm not convinced we're looking at Hilltop as per the paper - but I've mentioned elsewhere that I suspect that some sort of system is making a distinction at least of "authority" sites, and giving links from these higher weight.

I don't think it's possible to show a fake PR unless you can do some pretty good hacking or good scripting... where'd you hear this?

it is possible. if you just "must have" pagerank you can 301 redirect your site to a different location, have your site show the pagerank, and then quickly put a site up.

I think he is taking about sites using frames, once i got an enquiry for link exchange from a PR6 website, which told me that they have already added my domain of PR4 and want a link from my site...
I was amazed when I went to their resource page. Only 10 other links were listed besides me, and it was so intelligently designed, with a careless look you can`t even think od using frames. But when I was teh source it was blady frames, and thr resource page was PR0..
Another trick could be iframes etc...

Where did you get this from? Google can display part of the meta description in the SERPs if no snippet of text can be found to match a query.
