What Google’s Matt Cutts Sees In 2009

Quote:
I'm not sure I would say ranking is dead but it's not as important as it used to be. The fact is the smart SEOs are not just necessarily looking at the rankings. They are looking at conversion, they are looking at their server log. It's great if you're ranking for a phrase but unless that leads to sales that doesn't help you very much. http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/20...s-sees-in-2009
As what our pink resident here always talk about.

Sounds very sketchy!

Didn't this site just predict that SEO was dead ?

Aren't we? what Matt's talking is smart SEOs don't just go for rankings and traffic instead for conversion.

The problem is, some SEO's tend to focus more on rankings rather than traffic and conversions, yes we can get targeted traffic with Search Engines, but there are other traffic sources that are targeted other than SE's. This industry is huge and Search Engine Marketing is just a part.

Nice find Kryvast. I understand what Matt was saying. A smart web master will go for convention instead of SEO.

In other words: look at what the public likes not what you want them to see.
