Do different browsers IE / FF really give different Google search results?
This might be an old question.
My question is if you are possible to set your
any of these browsers which are
FF2
FF3
IE5
IE6
IE7
IE8
become same lang/region/num/....
Will you get the same Google search results?
Thanks

I have never heard of this. I highly doubt it.. unless someone could provide stats and details, I'd say no.
However, if you are logged IN to your google account (gmail etc) and start doing searches, you will get different results. And you will get different results based on location. If you search in Ontario, and try again in BC, the results will be slightly different especially if you are logged into your google gmail.
Best suggestion is to make sure you are not logged into Google when you do your searches for rankings.

Larke you have good point.
Login G account may affect Google search setting.
I personal tried IE / FF
with this search
google.com/search?hl=en&q=seo&btnG=Search
IE: Results 1 - 10 of about 252,000,000 for seo. (0.09 seconds)
FF: Results 1 - 10 of about 252,000,000 for seo. (0.07 seconds)
I also checked IE / FF both from rank#1 to rank#100
They are all same.
So the results are the same for the different browsers.

All the browsers are same, this all only in client side effect only nothing on other things. FF facing problem on secured log in and some non english sites. But for me IE is good for browsing except some time showing MS error and closing the browsers

When you are logged in you get a different search result. Otherwise I don't think different browsers have any effect on search engine rankings.

I think shakir is right, it depends on the client side. All the browsers are same, there is no difference in the search results but may effect the time such as (0.09 seconds)
(0.07 seconds).

Agree with you results are all same from different browsers.
But I will keep trying to find out one different. However I haven't found one yet.
BTW, can some one explain why search time are different.
Thanks

I am sorry if this is an old discussion, but I found it with a Google search, lol.
I am using Firefox for my business, but I also use IE simultaneously for a few things. In Google, an article of mine on IE is #6 out of 13.2 million. I am NOT logged into my Google account on IE.
On Firefox I am logged into Google and my article is #8 out of 13.2 million. The results have been the same for days. So I actually am LOWER on the browser that I'm logged into Google with than I am in the browser that I'm not. Not by much, but when you're talking about page one of Google, a couple of spots make a huge difference.

google is google, while browser is just a platform to surf. There's no way that browser can change google's ranking.

I think web browsers doesn't affect the rankings of a site in search engines. Web browser is not part of SE's algo in ranking sites in SERPs. hehe

So far, I don't notice any observation that says that different browser will give different search ranking results. Not sure how you arrive to that conclusion.

there is a difference ... sort of :)
working with a client today on SEO and they kept telling me on their computer they didn't get the same results as me.
we were looking for the term: coop development
to bring the coopzone.coop page to the top.
we realized that she was using safari, and we were using firefox.
so I investigated.
1 thing that I found was that the 'plugins' used by different browsers could effect google search results differently. So that while using the safari search box to search google I would get different results than if I went to the google.com website and then searched for the same terms.
this piece about the plugins is only from what I was told, not thoroughly tested.
but what I did find was that being in canada, when I enter google.com I get brought to google.ca, when I use the safari search box it searches google.com
since the site we are looking for is a canadian located site, we get much better results when on google.ca
the difference between:
http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=...e+Search&meta=
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&c...nt&btnG=Search
hope that helps.

The is a difference between .com and .ca for sure. There is also a difference due to where you do your search because Google detects your IP and will push up local results/add, whether you are logged in your gmail account or not.
However, I don't think there is a difference in the searches between browser.
It's like watching a game/movie on a old tv or a brand new plasma screen. The result will look different but the game/movie will be the same.

I don't think the browser makes a difference, but location of the search for sure does, and maybe plug-ins and other factors do too.
