NoFollow External links or Internal links?

For the moment im using the nofollow only on the external links. i have heard that if i use the nofollow on the internal links also ill get a higher PageRank (have 5 for the moment). Is that correct?

if i use the nofollow on internal links, doesn't that mean that "i do not approve" of this links and ill only punishing myself?

i have seen sites that use the nofollow on both external and internal links and they have a lot higher PR than i have even if i have lots more incoming links (with higer PR sites) than theirs.

internal linking is an important aspect for your site get better ranking. setting them as nofollow would do no good for you. doing it for external links makes sense since you do not wanna pass pr.

I've been thinking about this too since I just learned that a few of my deep pages have a higher PR than my main page (PR3 vs PR2)

I was told that it's all about link flow and that I should consider some nofollow internal links. I think google treats each individual page like it's a unique website so:
-If a particular pages has a lot of incoming links and few outgoing links, it gets a PR boost.
-If it has a lot of outgoing but few incoming then its PR is drained.

does that sound right? It seems to apply to my site. So I'm thinking about converting some links to nofollow to equalize the flow somewhat. And I'm going to turn most of the links to pages I care less about to nofollow. Is this a bad idea?

Smile You may get pr

You may get good PR, but your site may not rank well for inner pages as google will not be able to read the internal links, this can lead to problem in ranking for inner pages.

My suggestion to you is that you avoid using these kind of tecnique, especially for inner pages of your website.

I think you don't need to put a nofollow attribute for your internal link. How can the pr link juice passes to other page if you put nofollow on it?

the idea is that you strategically place it in certain spots to control the flow of link juice to where you want it to go.

Putting nofollow is nothing like not approving the rest of your website or punish yourself (lol at that!). It just tell the crawler to not follow that way. Doesnt give a bad vote for that page.

Linking to your entire site from the page you want to position will spread the PR to all your pages.

My advice is use nofollow only for the internal pages you dont care to position like "privacy policy" etc. Consider that the more dofollow links you have in your homepage the harder will be to have a good PR on that page.

Setting NoFollow for internal links is somewhat useful in a way, it prevents Google from picking up duplicate content and penalizing you for it.

It's best to use rel="nofollow" on internal duplicate links.

For example:
If you have a top navigation and footer navigation, using rel="nofollow" on the bottom navigation would be beneficial.

nofollow is just for external links, otherwise your internal pages could not even being indexed by google

I think that you should not nofollow all your internal pages just to get a better PR. You should only no follow a link, if you do not want to give any of your site's trust to that link. No following your own pages will have negative affect.
