Just how important is the tagline?

just read on a search engine blog about the importance of a tagline. What do you think is it wort taking into consideration , spend some money and quality time on it or isnt it worth it getting a good tagline.

tagline is a part of branding.

branding and the spread of ideas are the two things that make up the internet.

I do not necissarily mean tagline in your forum posts I was talking more about creating a good name and having a good subtitle.

I am not what you would call a professional poet, but I am somewhat good at coming up with figurative slogans (at least in my own mind).

my friend wanted to make a site about linking. so my line for him off the top of my head was

"it's not who you know, but how they link to you..."

I like wordplay. music like Nirvana resonates well with my thought process and attempts at poetry.

but I think I am being somewhat narcisistic here and must stop.

even if you do not know the exact words or ideas behind your tagline it is a good idea to have a market, business angle, and business model in mind when you start whatever you do.

if you tell me what you are trying to come up with a tag line for I can try to make a few for you.

I will not guarantee they will be good, but they will be free.

Yeah... tag lines are good if people can remember them... for my video montage company, my tagline is "Because life isn't just a snapshot, it's a moving picture"

I do not like the one that was given though because it is very similar to what Dean used in his presidential campaign.
