Banned by Google

We have a new "design only" client (no SEO) that was using Traffic-Power. Looks like they got booted from Google.

Any recommendations on ways to get them back in?

Will we have to change the url?

Changing the URL (new domain) is always the safest way to get back on track.

You can tell if a site is penalized by doing a search for the URL on Google:

Quote:
Sorry, no information is available for the URL pit-bull.com

Find web pages that contain the term "pit-bull.com"
That's penalized.

Quote:
Sorry, no information is available for the URL tit-bull.com

If the URL is valid, try visiting that web page by clicking on the following link: tit-bull.com
Find web pages that contain the term "tit-bull.com"
That's not. If they include the line "If the URL is valid, try visiting that web page by clicking on the following link: whatever.com", then it isn't penalized - just not in the index.

If that line is not there, Google's spanking.

Definitely spanked. Can’t wait to cover this one with them next week.

The safest bet is to get new URL.

There was a very important client for us.. I can`t disclose the name... he was also banned, he was using wrong redirection from his other site...
He was so deperate to get his brand name back...
We started with a fresh URl, we booked brandname.co.uk
and started to SEO for new URL, but in the mean time we wrote few mails to help@google.com stating that it was not our fault for which we were punished but the previous SEO company's Black hat SEO practices.
It took us around 5 months to get back in SERP.
Now we are doing pretty well for both sites..

P.S.: Both sites have different content now and are catering to different markets.

Yep, I was thinking our client might freak-out at not being able to use their name so we also may have to pursue both avenues. New URL and try to get the old one back.

Thanks
