Do you use Google Webmaster Tools?
So I just recently decided to dive into Google's webmaster tools section, and submit my websites and sitemaps.
I really enjoy the information I started getting in the very first 24 hours of it all.
Does anyone else use the webmaster tools?

Google's webmaster tools recently started showing up on my igoogle web page.
I'm not really sure how or why it started showing up there, but ...
I have found them very useful.
I have managed to fix a lot of problems I would not have been aware of myself had not google pointed them out

I do but not for all websites. I mostly use it for bigger websites or website that needs to be geo-targeted.

I submit mine after each post. By doing this I can usually see my post appear in the Google index within minutes. (7 minutes is my best time so far - that I've noticed) Oh, and I have the SiteMap Generator plugin running on my blog as well which helps in this.
I wander through the webmaster tools every time I'm in there resubmitting my sitemap. Most of the info there is helpful but some things leaves a lot to be desired.

Well, I made the (s) part of my sitemap(s) reply, because I just recently submitted my blog's XML sitemap to Google, and it's currently still pending. This was the same response for my webmaster forum sitemap xml, took a long time for the first one, but each one after that was pretty much instant update.

Does Google automatically reindex the sitemaps every once in a while i.e. do you really have to do it manually every time ?

They do it periodically on their own. Definitely faster to manually resubmit.

Once Google discovers your sitemap, they will automatically revisit and update it on occasion, but as Star said it is faster to manually submit it.
