Hosting and SEO

Would someone be kind enough to give us a run down on how hosting and the type of hosting package impacts on SEO efforts. I am about to look for a new hosting package and just want to make sure that I go for a set-up that is not detrimental to our SEO efforts. What should i be asking the hosting company and what should I look out for as negatives.

Hosting doesn't impact SEO for the most part. Unless you're host is down often, which could hinder the spiders from crawling your site and thereby indexing it.

The other part of the equation is in IP ranges. If you have built your own link network, hosting all sites on the same IP range may decrease the value of those links.
