Opinions wanted:length of Google honeymoon period

...a certain site I'm thinking of buying. Indexed well for fairly competitive keyword, as URL is the keyword, but site only about 5 weeks old.
I'd jump on it, but suspect that 'honeymoon period' will end the minute I buy it... looking for opinions as to just how long is this honeymoon period is...? Thanks.

it really depends.

The website could sink within minutes, or could stay here forever. It's hard to tell. It will depends on the work done on the website, on the work done by competitors etc...

If it is a quality website that has strong potential, you should but it regardless if you have to wait through any kind of sandbox delay. Just be willing to put that website on the backburner while you put more of your efforts into other websites.

Not necessarily. Most of my sites have this (although Ive never heard it called this before). They will rank unnaturally good the first week or so and then they will sink back down to a more normal ranking (for a just-indexed site) and start crawling their way back up to the top.

It’s really hard to tell, if you stop working on it, it will go down and disappear eventually, you have an advantage starting out in a good place but It won’t magically stay there.

BullSh**

you've been reading too many forum posts....lol

Unless you get knocked out it's there.
Where do these peeps come from......

One more drink and I'll say it like it is.

Look if it has good placement you can make it better by getting all the damn backlinks removed - email them and have them remove the links. then add some pages, look at what that guy did and (if it does have good placement), and try to duplicate it (match the metas and content) to your new pages.

It won't drop unless your competitors knock you out.
