You're mistaken...we have domains sitting with content that have achieved PR1 with no promotion, no backlinking, and no search engine submissions. They were put up with the intention of getting back to them. They are all 1 year plus in age.
We have PR3 sites with backlinks that have internal pages ranking 1 and 2 with no backlinks.
Buy a domain and register it for 5 years instead of one you will see
pr jump faster.
Real traffic jumps
pr as Google tracks more than just links.
Backlinking fits into the algorithm but it is far from the only factor as it is a flawed system. Google is always trying to stop "cheaters" when it comes to rankings. Their desire is to rank according to popularity and relevance.
I assure you...you are better to have 500 backlinks and 500 visits a day than to have 5000 backlinks and 20 visits a day.
The best place to learn about Google is at Google itself. Sure they won't suggest ways for you to manipulate their system but they do explain factors of importance and the fact that they track hits, visits, one way links, reciprocal links, and content relevance as it relates to title tags, header tags, meta tags, and backlink keyword tags.
As for anyone that wants to pass false information I would recommend searching for a date for the next Google seminar regarding seo and analytics. I think you will be amazed what you can learn from the source.
