Vote for this page/vote against this page; effect?

I was wondering two things actually about the smilies in the Google toolbar.

What real effect does voting for a page have, anyone know?

Do your new pages get indexed faster if you click the vote for this page smilie when you are on them?

No, Google stated someone that those smilies are part of a test program they are running...it shouldn't get you indexed any faster either.

I don't think that Google put much value on them (I've actually removed mine a while ago) cause tastes of people are relative. And relative opinions are things that a SE should avoid, IMO. A SE should be objective... I mean, I may find a webpage bad and useless but maybe that's because I'm ignorant on that content. Or maybe I'm a competitor for the owner of that page.

But I think anonymous information that we sent via Google Toolbar while we surf on the net could have some value. Actually it's a very good way of tracking the traffic of a webpage.
