yahoo.com has a PR of 10. The pages those links are pointing at don't.

keep in mind that Yahoo! has a limited amount of home page advertising real estate and it is cheaper to rent links from other sites than to disrupt their pageflow of their home page.

advertisments no. PageRank yes.

look how keyword rich those links are. they speak for themselves.

not much in the line of sales copy for and advertisment...

If you were writing the copy as an ad, what would you have written? It is proven again and again, whether you have a sentence or that reads:

"We sell the best used cars in the entire world."

or just

"Used cars"

There is no difference in the click throughs. What additional copy could possibly improve the click through?
