you said u update daily. But updating your site has nothing to do with page rank. What affects page rank is your link building strength. While updating could lead to better SERP(because google spiders love regularly updated content), it does not affect your page rank in anyway. Atleast, as much as I know.

Just another pennies worth!

First your SERP position is far more important than your pagerank, for one i would much rather be #1 in the Serp than have a page rank of 5 & not be on page one.

That said, backlinks & content are what will get you to #1 & pagerank is a byproduct of promoting your site.

If you are going to be backlinking your site then make sure it is your keywords you are linking to not just posting your URL. In Blog comments it is quite common for the name to be the link anchor text so use your keyword as your name.

Articles are also a good source of links especially if they are picked up write & submit some articles to the major directories.

Check the links of your competitors & try to get similar links yourself

Good Luck linking is the least glamorous part of internet marketing & where most newbies will become disillusioned & quit. It takes time & effort but there is a pot of gold at the end of this particular rainbow!
