There was infact a PR update just about 2 or 3 weeks back. However, I suggest that you do not much worry about PR. PR is just one of the 200 things that Google consider while ranking a site.
concentrate on content and relevant backlinks to improve SERPs.

Sorry but I forgot to put this I have a few sites with Page Rank that don't get hardly any traffic at all but they have some page rank. They don't get much traffic because I don't work with them and add more pages or links. So Don't worry too much about page rank...

It is becoming rather evident that gradually, fewer number of sites are experiencing PR boosts because Google is getting too picky in evaluating the PR juice value of the incoming links.

My main site has been a PR 2 for a while and I had not checked it for some months. So it is still a PR 2, it did not increase eithor, even though my traffic and income has increased since March..

You need to get more backlinks. Much better if the backlinks are dofollow and have pr already.

Yeah I guess I just can't be bothered anymore with a Google PR. Although it's quite useful in trying to find private advertisers

My concern on this topic, Google also conducts some minor PR Updates for a month and its major Updates usually take every 3-4 months..

Going from PR1 to PR2 is way harder than going from PR4 to PR5, so it gets harder.

I thought it was the opposite: easier from PR1 to PR2 than PR4 to PR5.

The last 3 updates where, end of dec 08, end of march 09 and end of may 09, the next only should be august 09 imo.
