Google PR Update?

Hi everyone,
I'm new to all of this, so please bare with me. I've just started learning about SEO in the last 2 months. Read a book - SEO For Dummies, Peter Kent. It all makes sense to me. My site has been stuck on Google PR4 for, what seems like, forever so I began to gather incoming links. I have six incoming. 2 with PR's of 4 and one with a PR of 6. The other 3 score below PR4. The PR6, I just got yesterday and that page was cached by Google yesterday as well.

My first question is do you think these links can raise my PR to a 5?

2nd question: While typing this up I went over to the page with my new link that has a PR6. http://www.exposwest.com/providence.htm I viewd the Cached text only, and there isn't any. The links are built in Flash. They do show up, however, at the bottom of the page when you view the source code. So I just visited every site that that page linked out to, and checked them for backward links, and I can't seem to find any back to the aforementioned page. Does anyone have any idea what that's about?

There's an SEO for dummies now? (cringes)

As for flash links - don't expect search engine spiders to read Flash. Unless he uses a no script tags then you effectively have no link there for search engines.

Also - don't worry too much about gaining PR - worry first about getting links to your site, both in number and quality. The Bluefind directory is a good place to start.

its really not that bad of a book. the one thing that is wacked out is his lack of emphasis on link building. he also states that it is not worth money to pay to be listed in directories, which shows a major conceptual error on his behalf.

other than being out to luch on the linking stuff it was ok.

That's what I mean, though - basic on-page stuff isn't really SEO anymore. Before Florida, yes it could work well, but now Google is so much more links-driven. But...the lack of information I guess helps everyone who does value links. (shrugs).

I will go to Bluefind for links.

As for that PR6 site that I traded links with: It appears that they're gaining a lot of strength by link trading, for what APPEAR to be invisible outgoing links. Before I contact them, concerning this matter, I'll have to be certain of what I'm talking about.

I think I would want to read SEO for Dummies... I bet it would be a good read... and probably kinda funny, too.

of course my biased opinion is that my ebook is better, but his book is ok. I do like the way they layout the dummies books though. it also is fun to know that you know more about the subject at hand than the guy who wrote the book does.

Yeah... althoguh I'm still learning, I think that would be the best part... almost like nit-picking it... hehe.

This book is new, recently published, as it was given to me by a friend who was waiting for it's back ordered delivery.

Knowing, almost nothing else on this subject, it is been my only source of info. up until 8/7, when I was directed to your forums.
