how is spam built into the message?
I find many of the ads useful when I need to learn more stuff. you hardly notice the ads unless you want to

I would consider ads appearing in my email messages spam, even if they are contextual and related to my message. I spend enough time filtering/deleting regular spam. I understand that the net is about making money, but I wouldnt mind one or two places where people aren't trying to sell me stuff.
What's next, commercials in the middle of a phone call?

this makes it sound like they are literally "in the middle" of the email.
they are off to the side and you really do not notice them unless you want to.
its much better than garbage like hotmail.

I think gmail is far better than yahoo or hotmail... Its fast, efficient and with load of feature with just one click of mouse..
Gmail is gonna stay very long...

PM me the email address you'd like me to send the invite to.
I must say also that I love Gmail, it's interface, and subtle advertising. Yahoo's email advertisments are MUCH more noticeable and show up for users on the other end at the footer. Gmail does not.
