Get rid of SE-Trap Sites?

There seem to be a growing amount of search-engine TRAP sites, that seem to capture about any typical keyword, rank allways on top and direct your search request to the database of their own site that often has nothing to offer on the detailed subject that you are looking for, just a marginal match that relates to something commercial. Sometimes the result site even wants you to sign up or login (sometimes for $$) before you can 'get what you wanted'.

Example: you enter "bluestone munich" (to look for a certain blue stone that can be found in munich) and get a result title

"bluestone munich - bluestone munich from the esoteric shop" with a sippet reading "bluestone munich buy from the friendly esoteric shop, any munich buy bluestone esotericshop buy munich bluestone munich" etc

On the page then there is nothing about a bluestone nor about munich, but there you have the options to "search for 'bluestone munich' in our products", "ask us about bluestone munich", "order tickets for bluestone munich", "send a greeting about bluestone munich", "order song lyrics for bluestone munich" ... a lot of options with little or no real relation

The trapsites appear most certainly when you query contains a keyword that is somethign that can or maybe could be bought or is similar to soemthing that could be bought.

- how do the trapsites work?
- how can we get rid of trapsites?
- can they be removed on report/demand?
- does f.e. google do anything to exclude trapsites

I have reported one to google so far and it is STILL at place #1 in the ranking. Google seems to be totally unaware/hepless about the trapsite problem.

If you are reporting them - see if you can drill down to who actually owns the site and if you can find a number of sites spaming from the same owner google (in my experience) has acted on the report.

Nothing us mortals can do about spam though you could tell it to Google here www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html but they ignore it reality.

I think major price comparison sites like Kelkoo and Procerunner mislead and spam Search Engines by sticking the word “review” in the title tag in the last 5 years and if you search for a product review you get a price comparison sites in the top 5 listings .

Dude! You could be the victim of a browser hijack. Try running some anti spyware software. Try googling "spyware begone" There is a free tool there that will tell you how bad the infection is. You need to clean up or switch browsers fast. Try Mozilla Firefox.

Let me know if this helps.

OK, I guess you could be safe in the land of linux. I've seen spyware, adware that will actually insert results into legitimate google queries in the first and second spot; You click on the link and it is as you described, a site that wants to sell, or have you search for the very unique phrase you just used as if they had already indexed it. So there is no spyware or adware for linux yet?
