Google Changes it's Trademark Term Policy for Adwords

Imagine opening your morning paper and seeing print ads from a store chain that didn't list actual products for sale; instead, they simply listed the categories of products available - offers like "Buy discount snowboards" and "Boots on sale."

The ads wouldn't be useful since you wouldn't know what products are actually being offered right?

For many categories of advertisers and publishers, this is a problem they have faced on Google for month's if not years. Finally Google has eased up and is allowing usage of trademark brands names. This is going to make it way easier on us as affiliates and advertisers, check it out :

That's amazing news!

I was already disappointed that this wasn't allowed when I first started using Adwords.
I hope they make it available for ads served outside the US as well.

I think this change will also help publishers and the CTR may increase. This change can help get more relevant ads which can increase CTR.

It's an advantage alright, but the owners of the trademarked item/product will benefit more I suppose

Good to know that Google made changes like this, it'll be easier now shopping online, more benefit for the visitors. Unlike before where you have to click several ads/pages just to get to the item/product on sale, only to find out that it's not the type of brand you want. I'm excited to see what webmasters will do now!

They were expected doing this a long time ago because there is no problem using trademarks for having properly created ads displayed over the net. No one would be thinking of copyrights but simply would consider expressing their ideas through the ads blocks and units.
