This is weird!

Hi, I did some redesigning on my website about a week and a half ago (not any major stuff though...background, pictures, the content is the same - actually added alot)....anyways, I didn't change any of filenames, etc. My problem is: my pages aren't even showing up in Google anymore?!?!?! My URL is http://www.alftv.net (which is showing up, it's never an excellent ranking but it's there) but pages like http://www.alftv.net/alfdvd.html , http://www.alftv.net/talkshow.html , and others like it aren't showing up at all (and they used to have top 5 rankings). Any ideas why Google would just drop them? I don't have any bad links (porn sites, etc.) or anything illegal which would make this happen. Any thoughts?

BTW: I did add META tags to my pages...they didn't have them before...would this cause Google to drop all those pages for some reason? I read in some previous posts (while searching) that part of optimizing your website for Google is experimenting, so I'm gonna try removing the META tags from one or two pages and see if there's any change.

Thanks!

That search a week ago would have turned up about 25 results and now I'm down to 2 (the 4 fatalsalute.alftv.net links were removed from my site almost a year ago). I'm lost for words here.

G could be just pulling up older cache? Is your site fairly new?

It's 13 months old...don't know whether that's considered new or not.

Hmmm, Google is getting a new version of my main page every day, but isn't crawling any deeper - the caches (that are left anyway) of my other pages are a month old...it seems Google has just started to ignore them - not sure why...I guess I'm kinda screwed for now. There's gotta be some reason my pages are being dropped (something I can fix anyways)...

hmm... I was worried about something like this too... let us know if taking out meta tags improves things!

the meta tags are not gonna be the problem unless you have included noindex or nofollow or messed up the tags or something like that.

Well, time for an update.

Google dropped even more of my pages today...and now my MAIN PAGE was dropped - the only thing that is left of it is an old cache from about 2.5 weeks ago (and they always cached a new one every day).

<EDIT> I guess I'll just have to leave it in Google's hands - after all my pages are filtered out I'll just resubmit my site and maybe everything will be good again </EDIT>

are ya linking out to anything shady?

using questionable hosting?

make any changes recently?

check that your pages validate? (not saying that they always need to but you may have messed something up when you changed stuff)

A link to LinksToYou.com cost me my PR, backlinks, and listing in the serp's for over a year.

I'm now much pickier on where I link to...

linkstoyou = garbage

I tell 7search that as long as they promote a link farm that takes advantage of new webmasters then their business ethics are plain to see and there is no reason to support any of their products
