Multiple, sitewide Links with same anchortext

We provide at the moment a ecommerce site, which is gone May 2004 online; main optimization is for a one-word-keyword, let's say widget and the plural form widgets. Our domain is something like widget-park.tld . The terms the site is optimized for, are highly competitive (6 / 8 Million Serps).
Our backlinks are almost all from themebased, highly ranked sites on these terms (singular and plural) and Adwords-like single-links (!), that means not in footers. Single links on not themed sites are with a highly diversified anchortext, something like "Occasion Park", "Best Widgets Offers", etc. A week ago we buyed a textbased advertising on a themebased site (listed on Googles second site for the plural of widget, that mens widgets). Unfortunately the owner of the site, who works with a open-source CMS is not able to place our link only on one site, but sitewide. Therefore we "dilluated" the anchortext of the link to | Best online widgets |. This page linking to us has about 20 000 sites in Google, so our link with the same linktext will appear on 20 000 sites, but as I said absolutely themebased. Do you think that could trigger a penalty or filter for our site ? Or do you think that could trigger a filter only for the whole anchortext, so for "Best online widgets" ?

Site (respectively new links pointing to) is still sandboxed.

I appreciate your answers.

I'm seeing an increasing number of networks selling Run of Site text links that appear to have had their ability to transfer PR/anchor text blocked.

Their clients don't seem to have been penalised as such, but their expensive link campaigns are useless.

One exception was a client indulging in a bit of cross/interlinking, the combination seems to have done for them...

Glengara, thank you for the answer !

Are the Masslinks "just" useless, or can they damage our site ? What I mean is if Masslinking like described, could trigger a penalty

a. generally for our page or
b. for the whole anchortext "Best online widgets" or parts of it, e.g. "widgets"

so our site could be filtered out for "widgets" ?

Thanks.

IMO, on its own, run of site links won't hurt the recipient.

Their overall linkage pattern may get looked at though.....

Thank you, Glengara ! It is quite difficult at the moment to plan and run an effective link campaign in a highly competitive ecommerce industry.

Perhaps I am fooled up by fear and legends for getting triggered or even penalized by GG for getting masslinks. Fact is, it seams nobody knows exactly about the consequences of sitewide links, even if they come from sites with the exactly same theme. As in this case, there is only one site masslinking to our page, I hope the links not to hurt us as recipient.

I think there are many factors involved in a triggering process, I am very careful because it seems new sites are triggerd much more easier than established, credible sites. We have a nice budget for the campaign but not "so nice" to buy single-textlink advertizing on thousands of pages. ;-)
