I downloaded it - I like it. I've put it on an off-screen toolbar that appears when I move the mouse off the side, so it doesn't make the bottom bar too full.

You mean how to have a side toolbar that only shows when you move the mouse off the screen at that side? Now you're asking something. My memory is no good. I made the sidebar quite a while ago and populated it with icons from my desktop. Once the sidebar exists, it's very easy to put things on it. Maybe you'll need to ask how to make the sidebars. But try this:-

Right click on the bottom bar, select Toolbars and New Toolbar... I think that a new one will appear on your desktop. If it does, drag it to one side and it should snap into place. If all that works, you can drag things onto it, and set its properties so that it is not always visible.

If you have the Google search box on the bottom bar, you can drag onto the desktop and onto the sidebar.
