A question about the latest PR update

My site at one time was penalized for linking to LinksToYou.com, and I lost all google hits and PR for over 1 1/2 years. A few months back, it returned with a PR4. Since then, I put alot of effort into getting some inbound links with the keyword as the anchor text. I was hoping to at least get a PR5 with the update, but instead, the PR spread out to a few internal pages, rather then the homepage PR rising.
If I was to make the directory part of my homepage at ClickHereForIt.com a javascript, would this make the PR less likely to leak to other pages, therefor making the homepage PR rise?

My homepage does have quite a few internal links, and a few external links as well.

I would really appreciate some feedback on this.

TIA

Googlebot is getting better and better at following javascript links, so I don't think javascript is a good way to keep Google from finding and following your links. You would probably be better off using a robots.txt file.

Stop me if you've heard this before, but I believe it's a myth that pages can "leak" pagerank by linking to other pages. Each page gets a certain amount of pagerank that it can choose to distribute to other pages, but that page won't lose pagerank by linking to other pages. That said, you still want to make sure that you distribute that pagerank to maximum effect.

Best thing to do is make sure that every page on your site links back to your homepage. This means that every page on your site will be sending some of its pagerank back to the homepage, which will help to make your homepage the highest pagerank page on your site.

One other thing: ideally, you want Google to index as many pages of your site as possible. Google seems to like big sites, and having more content indexed could help you rank better.

Hope I didn't just tell you a bunch of stuff you already know.

I'm not sure this is correct, we have about 15,000 pages on our www.canz.biz site each page has 3 links back to the main page. And our PR is only 4 I do admit that only twenty or so pages on the whole site have there own pagerank but still it should count.

Hey canz,

You may be right. Most things in seo seem to be conjecture, so I could be wrong about that one.

But I'm pretty sure that, with a clever linking structure, you can focus most of your pagerank on certain pages on your site. That Phil Craven article explains it pretty well. Pagerank is sort of like a popularity vote. You can make your all of your pages vote for your homepage, and that should boost it's pagerank. But if your pages aren't real popular to begin with, then their votes don't count for much.
