Yep, made it!

At the first page of the serps on a highly competitive keyword (Results 1 - 10 of about 4,730,000) and the fun part is that it's the only non profit site, all the rest are heavy marketed tourism sites. I did it with zero $$ investments and zero external links (from other sites) to that page.

With good content, a well ranked website overall and a few internal links I guess. It's not the only keyword/term I rank well on, in fact I rank well on many keywords, depending on the pages. Even a few I have never targetted on purpose.

Amsterdam info on the first page and amsterdam information at#11 (out of 5,170,000)

Oops, at #10 for Amsterdam information now I just looked, and I linked the keywords to the actual page that shows in the serps, just to find out what those two links on this forum do with the position I have now. I wonder, those are the first and only external links and maybe they have some effect in a couple of days.

Could.'t resist doing that.

Google:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...on&btnG=Search Amsterdam information
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...fo&btnG=Search Amsterdam info

Congrats

What kind of traffic does the search term Amsterdam info bring to your site?

Not to take anything away from your great achievment but a quick check on Wordtracker shows a count of only 5 for that keyword.

Is that how inaccurate Wordtracker is?

It doesn't bring much traffic at all and my site is a non profit so I don't really bother about wealth in return, other keywords bring me a lot more traffic, like I mis-spelled 'graffiti' on purpose and get tons of traffic for 'graffity'. The nice thing is that Google now starts showing my pages for the correct spelling (graffiti) also while the correct spelling isn't even on the page. I also get loads of traffic for 'THC' and many other cannabis related searches. In fact there is only one keyword I work on actively to get on the first page of the serps and will bring tons of extra traffic and I'm still balancing on the 4th page with that one.

As an experiment I once made two pages aimed at keywords and they are both #1 in the serps and they where within four weeks. Those keywords are cannabis religion and marijuana religion.

Yes G10, I'm a reverend, not the usual one, I am aware of that but there are people who like my ways and attend our church. Need babtism?

Now this is weird, amsterdam info now shows Results 1 - 10 of about 7,890,000 that's about 3 million more pages?

and Amsterdam information shows Results 1 - 10 of about 8,660,000

My position didn't change much but I wonder how Google found 3 million more pages for a keyword search overnight.

Even more reason to be happier The no. of search results always fluctuates, but never usually that much.

Dcristo,

That's a bigger feat... using the words always, never, and usually within a 5 word string. I particularly like the "never usually". You've got politics in your future.
