Google read alt= or title= better or..

So i'm just wondering... i used to always use IE so i made all my image tags show alt= now in mozilla it uses title=

anyway... does google read both when crawling? is one better than another?

Googfle indexes everything, but it only places weight on ALT attribute tags if the image is linked. The title tag (title attribute) carries no weight at all.

IMO, Title attribute is not indexed by Google !!!

Is the ALT in that case as powerful as link text? If not then how good is it?

Indexed just means it is in Google index. And all the content can be indexed without it necessarily carrying weight.

I find that ALT text of image links is very powerful. Just as good as text links, IMO.

That super. At work we have a "powered by logo" image at the bottom of many websites and the the URL has no keywords so I gonna suggest ALT text of "company.com - Keyword1 keyword2" but no more than 2 keywords.

(DOH! Unlike you have John, I am not replying to the correct tread - these hybrid forums are good idea but donâ€™t work IMO, they have to be Threaded or Flat but not both)

I think that is an option you can change in your profile. I don't see the forum as flat - just threaded.

Still a very cool forum. Love the switch view from the top right of the window. I like threaded but often just hit the big "Post Reply" button at the bottom of the screen and reply. Guesss I need to hit the Quote button more. If we lost the big "Post Reply" button I think this type of forum may work for all users.
