Getting Your Page Indexed

Ok, so I am new to increasing page ranking and getting indexed by google, and Im wondering how long this usually takes, and the best way to tell when it has been indexed? I dont want to sound ridiculous, but obviously this would be the first step to increasing page rank? Correct?? I am in the process of compiling a lot of research that I have done but I have never really looked at page rank on google. Im trying to get it figured out. Any help would be Great.

Thanks

Are you saying it takes 3 months to get the page indexed? Or to get any kind of page rank?

what he is saying is that it takes around 3 months to get pr - depending on your niche. if your niche throws back a couple million search results it might take awhile, if your niche throws back a couple thousand search results it shouldnt take that long.

It is an assumption that Google update PR every 3 months but noone knows the exact time. In order to index better you should update your blog on daily basis

I don't need a good page rank to rank well in serps. Just keep building links with your targeted keywords as anchor text. Your page will be ranked in google.

i think updating your content might attract bots to index your site especially if you're using blog. proper link building would help and the fastest way for me to get indexed. based on my experience and according to most of the webmasters and SEO doers in most forums, social bookmarking, forum postings blog commenting and article submission some of the link building methods that are effective in indexing because the contents of these sites gets updated everyday. if you have links on these sites, there's a big possibility that your link will get indexed in a week or two.

Thanks for the help everyone, according to Google web tools, my page has been indexed! However, according to the current page rank button in the google tool bar, it states that I have not been ranked yet by google. I would imagine, this is going to be the time consuming process??

If the site is new, google should index the home page in a matter of days, sometimes hours. You need some links to get the indexing started.

After the first go around, google may not index your site for a couple of days, maybe even weeks. New sites get indexed, but deep indexing - finding dozens of new articles might take days.

Sign up for a yahoo site explorer account, bing webmaster tools and google webmaster tools account and submit a sitemap. That will help your site get indexed faster.

I think backlinks from really high PR (>= 7) sites or forums would help your new sites getting indexed within 48 hours, especially dofollow ones. As for PR, again quality backlinks play a big role, too.
