Instead of being to busy on how to increase your blog's PR, it should be wise to focus your attention to providing your visitors a good read and useful contents.
According to Susan Moskwa, a Google Employee.

We've been telling people for a long time that they shouldn't focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think it's the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true. We removed it because we felt it was silly to tell people not to think about it, but then to show them the data, implying that they should look at it.

It's overly said everywhere -- "content is king" -- that you should be more concern about providing useful content to your visitors than being fancy with a "competitive" PR.
Well, why should you be more concern about content than PR? Most online surfers don't care about PR -- especially those aren't technical about the internet and live outside SEM and SEO world, they only care about what you can provide them -- that is, your useful content. And if you don't have that, they wont come back for more. Remember, visitors make a site/blog alive and running.. So, make your visitors feel they can't go on without visiting your site..

As far as i know, it is hard to give a conclusion, the google PR depends to the quality and quantity of your inner links and outbound links. If your inner links is a little, and low quality outbound links, the pr maybe also low.

Well Said regmac , i totally agree with you, Normal User really don't know any thing about pr, they just visit site, just because they get it from some where, and they came back to your site again if you provide them Quality Content and resources, PR is just for webmasters and SEO Experts, those want to show off them work to other webmasters , or its just important if you want to sale your links or want to Exchange your links with someone else, otherwise pr is useless thing, The important thing is that Traffic of your site and Conversion Rates And bucks those you are making from your site

@ buttsb and @luu, thanks guys for pointing out my idea here.
Personally, I do care about PR, however, in my list of priorities, it is the last one. Why? Because, for example I have 10 priorities, so getting PR is at no. 10. The priorities from 1 to 9 will eventually result to no work to achieve no. 10. Hope you got that.
Another thing, facebook.com is now at PR 9. Do you think they work on that? If you say yes, well, I gotta say, I doubt. We all know facebook.com provides a superb experience for internet users allowing them to connect to friends and family anywhere around the world. Not only that, it has become one of the most preferred social networking site nowadays overcoming myspace and the likes. Why? Because they tend to provide you a unique experience, a useful service that you can't live without (i think).. So, how did they reach PR 9? Simple. By word of mouth. It is those satisfied users who chattered about them on their friends and families. They link to it because they think it's very useful. Not only that, reputable sites over the net review them and link to them giving them a lot of link juices.
I am not saying you go build a facebook like site. But what is there to ponder are those what they have taken to be where they are now.

If they are relevant and decent links then yes the toolbar, and I emphasise the toolbar because that is clearly what you are interested in, should show an increased ranking for your site. However you shouldn't pay too much atention to the toolbar as due to the fact it only updates once every 3 months and google updates constantly its value is worthless except for just after it's updated.
hope that helps a little. If you do want to look into ranking however it is better to use Alexa.

Hi,
Its really great to have such a huge no of backlinks.Well PR will increase accordingly because depends on various factors like quality content, links and many more.
So you just work on link building and other processes and PR will increase in future.!!!!!!
There is one new search engine [LINK REMOVED] check here also.
Thanks.

I didn't know that google updated their PR but you should increase your backlinks. Increasing your backlinks will also increase your PR.

It is great that you got the 6500 backlink but the PR doesn't fully depend on the number of backlink. There are many other factor like content, navigation of site, which affect the pr.

Instead of just trying to get more backlinks, also try to get backlinks with higher page rank that can leak into your page rank.

Quality matters a lot and not only quantity, it depends how good you links are.
If you have good quality link then you will get a good PR.
BTW, what is you ranking on SE? I suggest you work on getting higher rank and leave thinking and worrying about PR that is no more important.
