So, please give some thought to actually offering something of value. You will find you get as much as you give here. You will gain respect and a lot of traffic from other members if you rack up the reputation points. You can make something for free. Especially if you are coder or web designer. Something that people need. Write tutorials.
There is also another way. You can get quality links with lots of traffic if you have really good website. Then you can submit your site to many of award giving sites. You get even more traffic and solid link if you actually get award.
